IN THIS LESSON
This module explores what constitutes a strong partnership within the framework of education pathways, whether led by higher education institutions (HEIs), nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), governments, donors, or other stakeholders. It emphasises collaboration as a context-dependent, adaptive process, essential to welcoming, supporting, and integrating refugee and displaced learners.
The module recognises that there is no single partnership formula. Effective partnerships emerge from local and national realities, legal frameworks, institutional cultures, funding structures, and power relations. Rather than prescribing a universal model, this module offers principles, guiding questions, and adaptable structures that can be tailored to diverse contexts.
Learning objectives:
Understand the strategic and contextual importance of partnerships in developing education pathways
Identify and map key actors involved in partnerships, including donors and funders
Analyse different partnership models without assuming transferability
Articulate foundational partnership principles that apply across contexts
Design governance, coordination, and accountability mechanisms that are transparent, sustainable, and adaptable
Facilitator’s Guide
How to Teach the “Building Strong Partnerships” Module
This guide supports delivery of the module in a workshop or training setting. It should be understood as a flexible framework, not a fixed script — facilitators are encouraged to adapt timing, prompts, and examples to their audience.
